Located in the cultural hub of Seoul; Samcheong-dong, gallerychosun has been a significant influence in the Korean art industry for over 20 years. Continuing the legacy of Chosun Hwarang, Korea's second-oldest gallery, it was natural for founder Mi-Seong Kwon to step into the art world, having initially worked under her father at the esteemed Chosun Gallery. In 2004, after years of experience, Kwon founded gallerychosun to embark on her own path. Since then, gallerychosun has actively participated in international art fairs, including Art Cologne and Art Basel Miami, establishing its presence in the contemporary art scene.

Beyond its regular exhibitions, gallerychosun co-hosted innovative projects such as the Soloshow, and has documented artists’ exhibition processes to build a unique archive of Korean contemporary art since 2015. In 2024, the gallery participated in Frieze Seoul’s Galleries section for the first time, showcasing artists with whom the gallery has long-lasting relationships

During her tenure as Vice Chairman of the Galleries Association of Korea in 2019, CEO Mi-Seong Kwon contributed significantly to the growth of the Korean art market by creating a Gallery Operations and Art Distribution guide and advocating for standard industry regulations, including the Standard Contract for the Art Industry. Her son now joins her in the gallery, making gallerychosun the first and only art gallery in Korea to pass down its expertise and legacy across three generations. Despite its heritage, gallerychosun remains committed to innovation and global contribution in contemporary art.
  • For the past two generations, we have served as a gallery. The time has now come for the third generation to take up the mantle. As we navigate this everchanging world, we continuously redefine our role as a gallery in order to move forward.

Vision Act is a movement to reach the future we envision.
We carry out projects with the belief that providing artists with new environments stimulates their growth.

Video Archive documents artists’ exhibition processes, preserving key moments for future generations. As these videos accumulate, viewers will witness the evolution of each artist’s ideas, how these are integrated in their work, and the path toward completion.

Side Story contains interviews with artists conducted after their exhibitions, offering insights into their reflections and experiences beyond the gallery walls.
