Face: Won Seoyeoung
Gallery Chosun presents Won Seoyeoung’s solo exhibition 《Face》 from September 8 to October 5, 2021. In this exhibition, Won explores the boundaries between painting and photography, while also examining new ways of confronting reality through both photographic and sculptural media. The title Face carries a double meaning: as a noun, it refers to the human face, and as a verb, it means “to confront”. The exhibition invites viewers to encounter and observe things that exist yet cannot be directly seen.
Won Seoyeoung has long worked at the intersection of photography and painting, investigating how each medium conveys meaning differently and expanding the potential of photography to evoke subjective interpretation. For this exhibition, Won blurs the boundary between painting and photography to express the invisible and unseen, while also using sculpture to offer a fresh, tangible way to confront reality.
This exhibition highlights works that extend the expressive possibilities of photography. Objects used in the photographic process are transformed into sculptural installations, allowing the audience to observe and engage with the subject from multiple perspectives.
