The “This Year’s Platform Artist” exhibition is the centerpiece of the residency program, showcasing the creative process and results of the resident artists during the “Open Studio & Presentation” period. Visitors and professionals vote to select the artist they would like to see again, and the artist receives support for a solo exhibition.
The title of this year’s exhibition ⟪모두와 눈 맞추어 축하인사를 건네고⟫, reflects the artist’s own gratitude toward their previous work and refers to a private, unpublished celebration. However, the works on display are not the earlier pieces themselves; they are reflections on past time. Over six days, the artist creates new paintings on-site, capturing and then letting go of that time.
Like layering a canvas flat and observing it from all sides, changing the direction of the brush as needed, the artist moves freely across the first and second floors of the approximately 660m² exhibition space, without fixed orientation, painting throughout. Moments of uncertainty from the past are carefully merged into this process. Visitors are invited to experience the artist’s past painting time as an “image of an image-less image-record” (Incheon Art Platform).
