Those trying to leap through fire are like copper; limited, oxidizing, rustling, changing, and ultimately leaving only ashes after burning. This “copper” seeks to become gold. Gold is formed only when it passes through fire without being altered by anything else. The pursuit of gold beyond the honey is a willingness to offer oneself as a sacrifice.
『The Pillar of the Alchemist』 depicts the movement of these coppers striving to become gold. Since copper changes easily, becoming gold requires an alchemical moment. The motions of the paintings that once shimmered within the wall now seek to escape outside. While walls are built to divide and separate inside from outside, the pillar stands alone, connecting and supporting above and below without relying on anything else.
