Things Left Behind, Things Yet to Come

Things Left Behind, Things Yet to Come looks at the present as a point where traces of the past overlap with possibilities that have yet to fully arrive. Working across different media and approaches, seven artists reveal various signs of the contemporary moment through themes of memory and history, space and boundaries, tradition and institutions, technology and desire.

Sunghong Min engages with memory and history through the remnants of objects and images left behind over time, while Sanghoon Ahn erases traces of meaning and representation, allowing painting to remain an open field of possibility. Jeong Jeong-Ju explores spaces marked by accumulated memories and the structures of seeing through light and architecture. Minjung Woo approaches the wall as both a boundary between reality and the ideal, the momentary and the eternal, and as a surface upon which traces of time and existence remain. Sooryeon Choe revisits recurring images of women and classical texts from East Asian culture, revealing a tension in which criticism of tradition intersects with nostalgia and sorrow. Bona Park makes visible the often unseen labor and relationships embedded within art institutions, while Axl Le examines how technology reshapes human perception and desire through metahumans, AI, and digital imagery.

Rather than converging around a single narrative, these practices reveal the present as an indeterminate condition in which different times and forces overlap: traces that remain and meanings that disappear, memory and boundaries, recurring images and invisible structures, and new forms of desire emerging through technology. The exhibition considers the contemporary world as something continuously taking shape between what has been left behind and what has yet to come.
